Iced Jal-Jeera: A Zesty Indian Summer Drink

Every summer when the weather gets hot, we make jal-jeera, which is a word that basically means "cumin water." Jal = water. Jeera = cumin. Here's how it's made.

Ingredients:

1 cup filtered water
1/2 cup mint leaves
1/2 cup cilantro
2 tsp Organic Cumin* powder or roasted cumin seed
1 tsp Organic Ginger Powder*
1 TBSP Organic Tamarind Paste*
1 lime(s) freshly squeezed
1 tsp Tellicherry Extra Bold Peppercorns*, black
1 tsp Black Salt* (kala namak) finely ground
1/2 tsp Himalayan Pink Salt*
1 pinch Hing* powder
1 tbsp Organic Jaggery* (grated) or other sweetener of choice (optional)
1 tsp Organic Fennel Seeds* (optional)

Instructions:

1. Add all the ingredients to blender and blend it well.

2. Add this thin paste to 3 cups of water.

3. Add ice cubes, garnish with a few min leaves and serve.
