Cabbage with Split Peas

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Combining peas and cabbages gives this dish a unique texture. In order to reduce your cooking time for this dish soak split peas well in advance.

Ingredients:

4 1/2 oz split peas
1 lb small head green cabbage
3 Tbsp Organic Grassfed Ghee*
1/4 tsp Organic Brown Mustard Seed*
2 tsp Organic Cumin Seeds*
8 Organic Curry Leaves*
2 green chillis dried
1 pinch Best Hing Ever*
1/4 tsp Organic High-Curcumin Turmeric* ground
cilantro (optional)

Instructions:

1. Boil about 3 cups of water.
2. Pour over split peas and soak for 2 hours. Then, drain water thoroughly.
3. Shred cabbage.
4. Heat ghee in frying pan on low heat. Add mustard and cumin seeds, cover and let briefly pop.
5. Add curry leaves, dried chillies and split peas, fry for about 5 minutes. Stirring frequently.
6. Add hing, turmeric and cabbage and fry (low heat) until cabbage is cooked and tender.
7. Season with salt, to taste.
8. Serve with a garnish of cilantro leaves if so desired.
